The family Callichthyidae, encompassing the subfamilies Corydoradinae and Callichthyinae, is one of the largest within Siluriformes. The Corydoradinae subfamily alone includes over 200 valid species, with new ones being frequently described. Popular among catfish enthusiasts for their small size, peaceful nature, and vibrant colors, Corydoras have been identified as polyphyletic groups. This study aimed to develop a new phylogenetic hypothesis using genomic data (ultraconserved elements) and to re-assess synonymized genera with the latest morphological data. The results supported the monophyly of Corydoradinae and recognized seven distinct species groups, each linked to a pre-existing generic name. From the paper - "Our results corroborate the hypothesis of monophyly of ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ฆ๐ ๐ก๐๐ฅ proposed by Brito (2003) and Alexandrou et al. (2011), who named this assemblage lineage 3. All topologies demonstrate that ๐ถ. ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ belongs to this group and is the sister of all species in this genus. Specimens of ๐ถ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ were known only from its type series at the time of the studies by Reis (1998) and Brito (2003), and were not available in the original collections in the same period (Hieronimus 1995). Sampling efforts by some authors of the present paper (C.O. and M.R.B.) at the putative type locality resulted in a relatively large number of specimens that allowed examination of characters that recovered ๐ถ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ in ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ฆ๐ ๐ก๐๐ฅ, and herein we propose them combination ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ฆ๐ ๐ก๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐.
