ClearTec ultra violet clarifiers are used in ponds to eliminate water born floating algae which turn the pond water green and starve it of oxygen. Algae as well as plants compete with the fish for the oxygen available within the pond at night.

This oxygen is only produced during the ‘daytime’ cycle of the photosynthesis. Reducing the algae within the pond allows the fish to breathe easier minimising stress and the risk of disease.

Features & Benefits:

  • Ultra violet clarifier destroys green algae
  • Robust construction for long life
  • Remote ballast with 10m cable for ease of installation
  • Multiple hose connections
  • Can be mounted on a wall or on the filter box
  • Outlet can be rotated to adjust to local set up requirements

Microscopic algae cells that are left untreated will simply pass through even the finest of filter material. If left untreated the algae remains in the pond turning the water an undesirable green colour.

Why do I need a UV-C?
Ultra Violet Clarifiers in ponds are used to eliminate water born floating algae which turns the pond water green and starves the water of oxygen. Algae as well as plants compete with the fish for oxygen available within the pond at night. This oxygen is only produced during the 'daytime' cycle of the photosynthesis. Reducing the algae within the pond allows the fish to breathe easier minimising stress and the risk of disease.

How long will it take for my pond to clear?
If you have followed the maximum pond size guidelines suggested for your pond size and location, most ponds will clear within 2 weeks. However this is subject to many environmental and 'your ponds specific' influences outside of the control of Pone One. We therefore recommend you seek the advice of your retailer regarding your particular installation.

Where do I position the UV-C?
Water is pumped through the UV-C which is essentially and most often situated before the pond filter. As a result of the exposure to the UV light, treated algae is trapped by the filter then removed when the filter is cleaned. The Pond One ClearTec UV-C should ideally be set up to run in line with a pond filtration system. Either a gravity flow biological filter or pressurised filter would suit. Water is fed from the pump into the UV-C where it is sterilised thus reducing the biological load on the filter.

How does the Pond One ClearTec UV-C work?
Water enters the UV-C via the clear stepped hose tail; here it is exposed to ultraviolet light treating the single celled algae. This results in the algae cells flocculating together into larger clumps. These are then large enough for pond filters to physically extract them from the water. The water exists the filter clear and free of algae. This ensures healthy and trouble free maintenance of the pond.
