The Salifert pH Profi Test Kit is a water test kit specially designed for controlling the pH value in marine water aquaria. It is accurate to monitor pH fluctuations of approx. 0.2 pH units and is sufficient for 50 tests in seawater.
The pH value is an important factor in the health and well-being of marine fish and corals.
The ideal pH range for marine aquaria is between 8.0 and 8.2. If the pH is too low, it can stress or kill fish and corals. If the pH is too high, it can also be harmful to marine life.
Features:
- Accurate to 0.2 pH units
- Measures pH values in the range of 7.4 to 8.6
- Includes everything you need to perform the test
The Salifert pH Profi Test Kit is easy to use.
Instructions:
- Add 10ml of water to the test vial.
- Add 4 drops of pH reagent.
- Swirl the vial gently for 10 seconds.
- Add 1 level scoop of pH buffer.
- Swirl the vial again for 30 seconds.
- Compare the color of the solution to the color chart provided.
The pH value can have a major impact on the growth of corals and calcareous algae and on many biological processes. The pH should not be allowed to fluctuate more than approx. 0.3 units during 24 hours and should preferably be kept between 8.0 and 8.2 in saltwater aquariums.
If the pH is too low then the cause may be a too low alkalinity and/or insufficient aeration.
A low pH can be corrected by improving aeration and by increasing the alkalinity to natural seawater value or up to approx 25% above natural seawater levels.
Approx. 50 tests per kit.
Suitable for use in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums.
