The Salifert Nitrate Profi Test Kit is a fast and accurate way to measure the nitrate levels in your saltwater aquarium.
Nitrate is a naturally occurring substance in seawater, but high levels can be harmful to corals and other marine life.
This test kit allows you to quickly and easily check the nitrate levels in your aquarium so that you can take steps to keep them in a safe range.

The Salifert Nitrate Profi Test Kit is easy to use.

  • Simply fill the test vial with 1 ml of aquarium water, add 4 drops of NO3-1 reagent, and then add 1 level scoop of NO3-2 powder.
  • Swirl the vial gently for 30 seconds, and then compare the color of the solution to the color chart provided.
  • The color chart will show you the nitrate concentration in your aquarium, in milligrams per liter (mg/L).

The Salifert Nitrate Profi Test Kit is accurate and reliable.
It has a wide range of measurement, from 0.05 to 20 mg/L as Nitrate-Nitrogen or 0.2 – 100 mg/L as nitrate ion, and it is not affected by amine interference.
This means that you can be confident that the results you get are accurate.

A too high nitrate concentration can result in unwanted algae-growth and these might irritate corals in their neighborhood.

Nitrate as such also retards coral growth.
The nitrate concentration in a proper functioning reef aquarium should preferably be lower than 1 mg/L.
Fish-only aquariums would usually show much higher nitrate concentrations.

Most test kits use a procedure in which a certain part of nitrate is converted chemically into nitrite and is measured as such.

Once again, just as with nitrite testing, amine interference has a major impact on the measured value.
If such an interference occurs concentrations much lower than actual will be measured.

The kit can perform approx. 60 measurements.
