Old Names, New Classification: A Major Shift in Corydoradinae Catfishes

In what is considered the most significant update in the Corydoradinae catfish world in the last 40 years, Luiz Tencatt and his team of researchers have unveiled a groundbreaking phylogenetic reconstruction of the subfamily Corydoradinae. This revision brings back historical names and splits some Corydoras lineages into separate genera, notably reviving Brochis. Enthusiasts will need to familiarize themselves with several 'new' names for these old friends: Corydoras, Aspidoras, Scleromystax, Gastrodoras (resurrected), Osteogaster (resurrected), Brochis (resurrected), and Hoplisoma (resurrected).
